Game Presentation Assistant - Cleveland Monsters (Cleveland, OH)

 

PART-TIME position within Game Presentation Department as team leader for in-game activities/promotions (38 home games, regular season)

  • Assist with the coordination of Game Presentation elements; in-game promotions, video skits, video production team, hosts, promotion team members, dance team, ice crew and mascots.

  • Game Night position (approx. 2:30 pm -10:30pm game nights) with some off-day duties as needed, but minimal.

  • Paid position & work dates will follow home game schedule.

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience in minor/major league or college sports environment is helpful.

  • Strong interest in learning about game presentation as a career and implementing those skills in a live sports environment.

  • Ability to work entire home game schedule (38 games at Quicken Loans Arena)

    including frequent nights and weekends.

  • Strong communication/organizational skills and confidence to lead groups of people

  • Job will entail scripting duties for promotion team members, hosts, & ice crew

  • Must be able to readily lift 20lb boxes and awkward sized objects in relation to gathering props for the night’s activities before and after the game.

  • Must be outgoing and enthusiastic to sustain energy and positive atmosphere throughout pre-game preparation and in-game activation.

  • Ability to troubleshoot situations within scope of a game night in a manner acceptable to the Monsters Hockey organization and react quickly.

  • Must have valid driver’s license

  • Creativity to actively collaborate with Game Presentation Dept. on variety of

    in-game elements: promotions, video skits, mascot development, overall presentation.

  • Will report directly to the Director of Game Presentation – Monsters Hockey

Sales, Service, & Marketing: Mascot
Mascot Assistant - Cleveland Monsters (Cleveland, OH)

Serve as part-time assistant to Mascot character/coordinator for all in-game activities (38 home games, regular season).  Serve as back-up to primary Mascot Performer for charitable, promotional and community appearances. Assist with the coordination of Game Presentation elements; in-game promotions, video skits, promotion team members, and mascot character development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong skating skills (desired, not required), athletic stamina to wear costume and perform in public
  • Minimum of two years experience in or around sports mascots, cheerleaders or costumed character activities
  • Flexible day time schedule availability for day time events, as needed.
  • Ability to meet time, priority and workload demands of a varying work schedule throughout season and off-season, including frequent nights and weekends
  • Ability to bring fan-friendly personality to mascot character
  • Strong communication skills with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to troubleshoot situations within mascot duties in a manner acceptable to the Monsters Hockey organization
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Ability to operate large motor vehicles; vans, cargo trucks

Sales, Service, & Marketing: Game Operations/Presentation
P.A. Announcer - Cleveland Monsters (Cleveland, OH)

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to serve as PRIMARY Public Address Announcer for Cleveland Monsters Home Games (AHL Hockey) at Quicken Loans Arena – Downtown Cleveland,OH, and selected outside events, as needed.

Requirements

  • Announce all player introductions, goals, penalties and other hockey game details, as needed. Potential for voice-over work on marketing projects, as well.
  • Present distinctive “voice” to Cleveland Monsters home game presentation.
  • Follow prepared scripts and hockey game flow.
  • Paid position, front office perks (parking, access to game tickets)
  • Opportunity to grow sports announcing skills in live professional environment.
  • Self-confidence and enthusiasm to perform in front of large crowds.
  • Professional speaking background preferred (radio announcing, voice over talent, other hosting experience).
  • Ability to work varied schedule within season; majority on nights & weekends, some weekend day games.
  • Must be able to work 90% of home schedule, at a minimum (34 of 38 home games)
  • Strong communication skills, clear speaking voice to use microphone in large arena.
  • Sports/Hockey Announcing experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a “Live Production” environment preferred, but not required, to be familiar with the pace and flexibility needed to improvise and adjust on the fly.
  • Comfort working in small space (PA Box at ice level) and working with off-ice officials.
  • Must have valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to Quicken Loans Arena.

Sales, Service, & Marketing: Ticket Sales
Seasonal Assistant- Ticket Sales & Service - Cleveland Monsters/Gladiators (Cleveland, OH)

Primary Overview of Position

Under the guidance of the department’s team leaders, this person will observe and learn the functions of the Monsters and Gladiators Ticket Sales & Service Team by participating in various team activities, events and day-to-day operations. 

Experience gained in the following areas:

Administrative function as it pertains to maintaining client records:

      Assist with all departmental activities including: coordination of Monsters and Gladiators membership events, member mailings, data entry, processing and tracking of Monsters and Gladiators membership materials, management of incoming and outgoing mail and assist in the execution of special events. This person will support the sales team with managing and developing marketing and sales materials and assisting in the distribution of this material to current and potential customers.

Hands-on Sales experience as it relates to game day responsibilities:

Assist in game day activities, which include: helping with pre-game programs, in-game experiences and events, and post-game programs as it relates to Ticket Sales & Service. In addition, this person will answer sales and service related questions during the game, set-up Membership Headquarters and support the sales staff with gameday responsibilities.  This person will also assist with gameday Group Fan Experience events in organizing and executing said events.

      Special Event Coordination:

      Assist in the coordination/implementation of special events hosted at the arena or off-site, based on current need.  Events include (not limited to): Monsters and Gladiators membership Meet the Team events, Group Leaders events, Suite and Premium Receptions, Seat Relocation Day, Prospect Events, Chalk Talks, etc.  Additionally, will assist with dark day or pre-game youth hockey and youth football events hosted at Quicken Loans Arena.

Hands-on Sales Experience as it relates to preparation for the upcoming season(s):

Assists with providing a high level of support and customer service to group leaders and members, as well as conducts research on fan development and other sales opportunities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  Computer literacy is required; experience in Prezi and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) is preferred.  Experience in related activities at the college level is preferred.

  • Must be organized and enjoy detail.  Must be flexible, able to accept direction and constructive criticism, as necessary, and to absorb and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must take responsibility seriously and be independently motivated.

  • Maturity and the ability to distinguish between ordinary and out-of-ordinary events and/or circumstances are essential.

  • Must be available to work irregular hours including: Monsters and Gladiators home games, nights and weekends.

  • Must have completed a four-year college degree, preferably with a focus on Sport Management or Business Administration.
